I just completed the Detroit marathon using nothing but crossfit as my training. While I didn't break any speed records, I ran hard and feel great afterwards. At mile 21 I remember thinking to myself " this still doesn't hurt as much as 5 rounds of fight gone bad!" I gutted out the last 5 miles and finished with a time of 4:45:11. Again, not a speed record but considering that my Longest training run was 800 meters..I am pleased. I am convinced that training at crossfit Brighton is the reason I was able to accomplish my goal. I have a long way to go but look forward to continuing to improve my overall fitness. In December 4, 2011 I am running the Las Vegas 1/2 marathon. My goal is to finish in under 2 hours using only crossfit as my training. We will see what happens.....thanks again!!!

Types of people
1-eat like crap and don't train
2-eat like crap and train well (involving functional strength and conditioning)
3-eat well (no processed carbs, no sugar, proper protein/carb/fat ratios) and don't train
4-eat well and train hard

#1 is obviously a bad choice
#2 & #3 have equal in terms of adaptations to overall health and wellness
#4 is optimal

Crossfit Brighton-Christmas in October

Getting a shipment brings back memories of being a kid on Christmas morning.

More equipment is needed and we have some. Heavier K-bells, dip up belt and another solid squat/jerk rack arrived yesterday. We also have more bumper plates. Our members work hard and we do our best to make sure we have enough quality equipment to challenge them in their training without standing around waiting for something to become available.

It is also fun to watch the UPS freight delivery man try to pick up a box with 70 lb. Kettlebells!

We constantly change the workout to avoid boredom. Sometimes we have 10 exercises, other times we do a single exercise for multiple reps. Friday we did Crossfit's benchmark workout "KAREN". Some liked it others liked it only when it was finished. Either way it is a great way to measure results and improved performance. Congrats to many who have decreased their times with KAREN and showed marked improvement.
