Who makes it and who doesn't? How do you know if someone has the will and internal fortitude to sustain? Continually stress people mentally and physically and you will find out who is willing to muster through it and who caves under pressure.
Take any case of employment or sports. People that succeed have the ability to adapt and grow within any situation. Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback of Green Bay. He has continually shown he has the ability to adapt under pressure to put himself and his team in situations to lead. This did not happen overnight and was the result of many years of training, performing, failing and succeeding. What we all see the result of his work in a brief glimpse.
Take the Navy Seals as another example. Many strive to be a SEAL. Some are selected and few actually make it. What is the difference between some vs. others? I'm sure it not a haphazard decision to go down this path and years of mental and physical preparation goes into it.
It takes years of training to mentally and physically adapt to one big game or a tough grueling test. No magic. No short cuts.
People find out a lot about themselves during stressful times. Tap into your ability to adapt, learn and grow. Keep gradually pushing your threshold.
We are continually impressed with athletes in our gym. We as trainers have the ability to sit back and observe. The improvement of small gains over a long period of time turns into massive gains in physical/mental health and wellness. Once again, no magic, no short cuts.
