Saturday we held a Bring a Friend/Introductory WOD. Our current members gave great efforts during the Baseline WOD and decreased their times while show marked improvements. New people had a chance to get a "Baseline" time and sample the training. We often re-test our fitness levels with Benchmark workouts. This gives us feedback on change in fitness levels ie. work capacity.
We don't necessarily focus on weight loss, muscle gain, lower heart resting heart rate or decrease cholesterol levels. Those are just the beneficial side effects of increased work capacity.

Brighton Area Fire Department came in for an Intro to Crossfit. All did very well.
"Be prepared for the unknown and unknowable" is commonly heard in Crossfit circles. Firefighters know this as much as anybody. When the bells go off they must be ready to lug equipment, carry another person, knock down a wall and any number of other physical tasks. The spontaneous physical demands can be varied from fire to fire and can be presented in a random sequence for varying times. These demands must be met quickly and competently.
Crossfit's training principles of functional movements, constantly varied exercises done at high intensity properly prepares men and women for the challenges that will lie ahead.

We are having a good start to the new year. We have Games Training Classes for a more competitive training atmosphere. These athletes are prepping to compete in the 2012 Crossfit Games. We are implementing an Endurance Class on Tuesdays as another option for marathon runners, triathletes and any endurance athlete looking to push themselves during the off-season. We are enjoying having youth athletic teams improve their strength and conditioning levels for their specific sports.
The members in our WOD Classes are continually showing improvement in their performance in the classes. We are proud to be a part of this community.
Look forward to another year of getting mentally and physically stronger. We are!!!
